Teach IT’s mission is to develop the professional skills of undergraduate students by supporting the technological self-efficacy of community members, young and old. Teach IT works with agencies that provide education experiences such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, local schools, the Monroe County Public Library, and Meadowood Retirement Community. Student interns in Teach IT do their work in the community, supporting kids, teens, and adults learn everyday tech skills.
Tech education for all
Support for all ages
Our teams work hard to create lesson plans in compliance with the Indiana state standards for computer science. Interns also provide workshops and other functions with adults to help teach computers literacy, as well as fun tech activities for youth in after school clubs.
Our interns are continuously learning on the job and in preparation for their service. We are always looking for the best resources to provide to the community.
A tech-based learning experience
Interns will learn how to teach technology to people of all ages and become familiar with resources made to help them succeed. Teaching topics and resources could include:
- Lego Mindstorms
- code.org
- micro:bit
- computer hardware
- CS Unplugged
- typing instruction
Teach IT gives me the opportunity to work with young children to shape their minds. It absolutely amazes me to see how smart some of these students are! I love being able to see the students grow and learn throughout the semester.

Client partnerships
Teach IT reaches the community through their client partnerships. These long-term relationships allow interns to help those with the highest need in the community. Teach IT maintains a limited list of returning clients and currently has no openings.
